Welcome

[edit]

Hello, Paxson72, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Copyrights

[edit]

In reference to your post to the talk page of Cagayan de Oro; can sympathize with some frustration of another website wholly using an article which you may have contributed to without giving due credit. Please understand, though, that the content of Wikipedia is free-licensed under GNU, which means that anybody can use this content without the consent of editors.

However, with that said, there are three limitations to that agreement, and the website that you have in mind has not followed the second or third, acknowledging Wikipedia as a source and providing a link to it (it makes no mention of the first, which is to also follow the GNU license). Good catch. The next step, if you want to help out, is to contact those who run the site with this information and ask them to follow the terms laid out. Should they refuse, you could post it at the Help Desk, where other users with more experience will be able to take things to the next step. Tijuana Brass 04:52, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

By the way, Wikipedia:Reusing Wikipedia content has some relevant information that you may want to look at. Tijuana Brass 04:53, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
