Tehama (/təˈhmə/ tə-HAY-mə) is a Canadian e-commerce company headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario, offering a cloud-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) (also Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS)) technology for the deployment of a secure and compliant virtual workspaces[3]. The Tehama platform allows organizations to securely manage third-party vendors and freelancers and also integrate them into their working environments.[4]

History[edit]

Tehama began as a suite of tools and technologies enabling secure, remote Internet-based work amongst the global workforce and clientele of Pythian, an IT services company. It was made a formal subsidiary business unit of Pythian in September 2018[5].

In September of 2019, in response to a surge in demand for the Tehama platform, the Tehama unit was spun-off as a company in its own right, independent of Pythian. Financing for this venture was provided by New York-based private equity firm Mill Point Capital, who thereby gained a majority stake in Pythian[6]. Founder and CEO of Pythian, Paul Vallée, left his position at Pythian to become Tehama's CEO[7].

By May of 2020, having seen its client base grow to more than 150, Tehama announced that it had raised US$10,000,000 in Series A funding [8][9].

In July of 2020, Tehama conducted the Digital by Default Summit, an online virtual conference on the subject of remote work, with particular focus on its greater adoption in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis[10].

Compliance[edit]

The Tehama platform delivers compliance with SOC 2.

Additional compliances include the NYSDFS's 23 NYCRR 500; the NERC CIP v5 standard; FIPS standards; HIPAA; PIPEDA; and CyberSecure Canada's Cybersecurity Controls.[11]
