Due to everyday use and easy accessibility to the everyday person false and outrages stories are easily spread on the web for millions of gullible people to believe. A myth can also be linked to Viral content on the internet. When an urban legend goes viral it’s usually because it stirs a lot of emotions with the people who view the posts containing the myths. Myths usually go viral due to negative stirring emotions. People tend to share articles that makes them feel angry“ people preferred to pass along versions that produced the highest level of disgust.”Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page)..Myths can sometimes be referred to as rumors due to their unreliability and lack of credibility.

Crime stories
As with traditional urban legends, many Internet rumors are about crimes either fictional, or based on real events but blown out of proportion.[1][2]
Chain email letters
Chain letters are a variety of urban legends concerning e-mails that tell the reader to make copies of, and redistribute, the e-mail or they will meet a terrible fate.[3]
Fake virus and malware alerts
Fake virus alerts, telling people of non-existent threats to their computer, are commonly distributed by email.[4] Fake virus have become a prevalent part of internet culture.

If urban myths get really popular they often times catch the attention of Hollywood executives and get turned into films.Candyman for example, first introduced in Books of Blood by the author Clive Barker started off as a Slender Man the most famous creepypasta started out in the depths of forums but got developed into a film that was released in August of 2018Slender Man (film).

Myths are only believable in the sense of how many people keep them alive albeit by forwarding a text message or sharing a post on social media platforms. Posting what people believe is true under a hashtag can simply share
