Copernicus Bilingual High School in Warsaw (XXXIII Liceum Ogólnokształcące Dwujęzyczne im. Mikołaja Kopernika) is a public secondary school located at Józefa Bema street in Wola, Warsaw, Poland.
The school, with a rich history, has consistently appeared among the best schools in Poland. All classes are bilingual, most preparing for the Polish matura exam and some following the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme curriculum.
History
[edit]- 1927 – construction of the school building
- 1939 – repurposement of the school into a hospital
- 1949 – re-opening of the school
- 1953 – first classes graduate, the school places among the best in the city
- 1960 – the school receives the name of Nicolaus Copernicus
- 1962 – a class with lectures in english opens, the first of its kind in Poland
- 1984 – the first native speaker starts teaching
- 1993 – the school joins the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, as one of two pioneering schools in the country
