Post Randomonium is an advertising-supported social networking post aggregator. The site displays random posts from Facebook and Twitter to users. Users can control what proportion of posts they get from the two social networking sites by operating a slider control on the main page. In addition, the site also features a mostly abandoned weblog in which the site operators write about site features, social networking trends, or general musings.[1]
The site also features a hall of fame to which users are able to nominate posts which they particularly like. If accepted to the hall of fame they are permanently stored on the site and are then able to be voted on by other users. If a user logs in before nominating a post, they can then get credit for the nomination, and can be ranked against other users.
Origins
[edit]The concept of the site originated from a discussion while watching a cable news channel. Noting the obsession that the media has with Facebook[2], the creators surmised that similar levels of quality in reporting could be had by randomly sampling social networking posts[3]. Despite this origin, the site’s primary purpose seems driven by the humor aspects of the selected posts.
