A business entrepreneur can be defined as a person who, rather than working as an employee is ready to take risks, but only calculated ones to come up with new business opportunities in the market. They are commonly seen as a business leader and innovator of new ideas and business processes. In fact, they are people have a talent for judging opportunities and also the skills required to develop those opportunities into profit-making businesses.

The word entrepreneur originates from the French word, entreprendre, which means "to undertake." In the context of business terms, it refers to a person who starts a business. A whole lot of debates take place as whether business entrepreneurs are born or made. There is no definite viewpoint for this debate but it has been found that successful business entrepreneurs share a common set of personality traits. In other words, some people have the talent to do business in whatever segment they want to.

The most common trait associated with successful business entrepreneur is a strong determination to make a business venture into a successful and profitable one. The rest of the qualities required to be a successful business entrepreneur can be learned with time.

Business entrepreneurs play a key role in any economy. These are the individuals who have the skills and ready to take the initiative required to take any new business idea to market and turn it into a profitable business venture. In fact, innovation and entrepreneurship goes together as business entrepreneurs work on:

  • new products
  • new production methods
  • new markets
  • new forms of organization

Any of the above traits speak of new development in the market done for the betterment of the society as a whole.
