From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Compulsions is a dramatic-horror web series created and written by Bernie Su. It bears a close resemblance to "Dexter", the television series. Season one consisted of 8 episodes released exclusively on DailyMotion over a two week period in December, 2009. It stars Craig Frank as Mark Sandler, Janna Bossier as Justine Davis, and Annemarie Pazmino as Cassandra Morrissey. All episodes are directed by Nathan Atkinson and produced by Michael Tohl, both graduates of AFI Film School.

Other cast members include Seth Caskey (as Adam Creedy), Taryn O'Neill (as Sara Flannery), Sean Spence (as Randy) and Andrew Clemons (as David).

The series revolves around the central character, Mark, who is a bored office worker by day and a masochistic anti-hero in his personal life. He is friends with Justine, who is a human hunter. Together, they try to retrieve a 'package' of some importance, although by the end of Season One there is still no mention of what the package actually contains. Cassandra works in the IT department where Mark and Randy work, and is a voyeur. Thoughout the season, Mark tortures both Adam and Sara to extract information about the package and its whereabouts. By the final episode, Sara breaks and gives the location to Mark. He informs Justine of it's location, where she ends up going, only to find the package missing and two strangers waiting for her.

As for Mark's work life, he is consistently being bothered by his co-worker, Randy, who is trying to fix him up with the office beauty (who Randy is secretly in love with), played by Elizabeth Tsing. By season's end, Mark has mustered up the courage to talk to her and interest by both parties is established.

Cassandra's storyline takes her, unexpectedly, into Mark's world when he takes his computer into the IT department to fix his "blue screen" issues. Cassandra fixes his computer, as well as installs a web cam. It is assumed that Cassandra is infatuated with Mark, although this is never stated.

Compulsions was recognized in 11 categories in the 1st Annual Indie Soap Awards, and received four awards: Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Editing and Best Sound Design.

It was also named "Best Web Original Drama" for the Clicker.com 2009 Awards and "Top Ten Professional Favorites of 2009" by NewTeeVee.
