Comment

I believe I have addressed the concerns of the earlier editor by rewriting the sentence "He was inspired by the initiative of Belgian scientists .." to remove the reference to personal motivations. Indeed I was unable to find direct support for that sentiment from a reliable secondary source in any case.

Together with other scientists, Hagedorn founded the grassroots movement Scientists for Future (S4F) in March 2019.[5][8][9] This initiative was inspired by a group of Belgian scientists who had earlier offered their support to the nascent Fridays for Future movement in January 2019 under the banner of Scientists for Climate.[1][2][3] The first statement by Scientists For Future was written by a circle of 30 people and signed by 26800 scientists in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.[3] The key authors also published a similar statement in Science with scientists from the United States, including Michael Mann and Katharine Hayhoe.[4] Hagedorn represented Scientists for Future at an environmental meeting with the German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in early 2020.[6]
