August 2020

[edit]
  1. Hetul Shah nominated at AfD; notified Abhishikt (talk · contribs) 21:35, 14 August 2020 (UTC)
  2. Ridit Nimdia nominated at AfD; notified Abhishikt (talk · contribs) 01:48, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
    • Reason: WP:1EVENT, and anyways neither becoming youngest rated player nor beating a rated player at the youngest age should count notable.(Especially since FIDE has continually lowered the bar for entry). Also World School Chess Championship is not a proper World age-group or school Championship. It is only held every year in Turkey with people from Turkey, India or Central Asia winning it. One can see in the result page that often below 2000 rated players are 3rd or 4th even in U15 or U17 groups. Also Ridit is now 16 years old, he peaked at a rating of 1729 and is currently rated at 1561.
  3. Umakant Sharma nominated at AfD; notified Eric Soyke (talk · contribs) 03:11, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
    • Reason: This is clearly WP:1EVENT. While the incident is clearly notable, the person is not. I propose redirecting it to Cheating in chess. The section there covers this incident near verbatim and also provides a much better historical context of cheating in chess and other similar high profile incidents. This article was nominated for AfD in 2007 just a few days after its creation. While there was no consensus, a lot of editors felt the need to delete or merge it. Cheating in chess was essentially created in response to this AfD and this incident. While the article then just basically covered this incident and was a stub, now it has much better content due to other high profile incidents since then. One can also note that nearly all other people with wikilink in that article are notable in their own right: normally by being current or former Grandmasters, while Umakant Sharma never held any title nor is currently even rated.
  4. Arvind Kumar Sinha nominated at AfD; notified Manish4591 (talk · contribs) 18:45, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
    • Reason: He doesn't meet WP:GNG or WP:NCHESS. He may have been once the best player in state of Bihar, India. But now that state has produced a number of good players including GM Sriram Jha. And neither can his contributions in promoting chess in Bihar or India compared to legacy of someone like Manuel Aaron.
  5. Joe Adamson nominated at AfD; notified WGaryW (talk · contribs) 01:34, 19 August 2020 (UTC)
  6. M.R. Venkatesh nominated at AfD; notified AShetty84 (talk · contribs) 09:44, 20 August 2020 (UTC)
    • Reason: He doesn't meet WP:GNG, WP:BIO, WP:AUTHOR. His collective works have a total 5 reviews on Amazon. He hasn't written more than 1 column each in notable business newspapers or magazines in India. Also the creator of the page had clear WP:COI conflict as he hasn't created or edited anything else.
  7. Shaheed Shodha Sansthan nominated at AfD; notified Utpalpandey (talk · contribs) 18:54, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
    • Reason: The organization doesn't meet WP:GNG or WP:NGO. Out of three references, one is organization's own website, second one is a small brief about organization in local coverage of a national daily (probably more like a press release), third one is about the org 's awards detail and not about the org itself. I could only find one more reference to org on news websites which just mentions it in the passing. It seems the org's founder is more notable than the org itself. Also to note is that the creator of this page had in 2011 created page for this org under its full name which got deleted under CSD.
  8. Yalchin Abdullayev nominated at AfD; notified Rufikmm (talk · contribs) 19:19, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
    • Reason: He clearly doesn't meet the criteria for WP:GNG, WP:BIO, WP:NPOL. He is a district leader of a party which is unrepresented in the national assembly of Azerbaijan. Its important to note that 9 parties are represented in the National Assembly. His only claim to fame seems (which is not mentioned in the article per se) to be getting arrested along with other activists for a political demonstration which seems to be a very weak WP:1EVENT
  9. Linda Paradis nominated at AfD; notified IndiaBulez (talk · contribs) 20:13, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
    • Reason: She is clearly not notable. She doesn't qualify WP:GNG, WP:BIO, WP:NBUSINESSPEOPLE. The first source from Lebanon states that she won Oscar for her invention. The only journal entry is an abstract of her seminar published by OMICS Publishing Group reconsigned as a predatory publisher which was became the first academic publisher to be sued by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for deceptive practices. In some other news reports she doesn't have significant coverage.
  10. Sunil Suri nominated at AfD; notified JKBuckeye (talk · contribs) 13:13, 26 August 2020 (UTC)
    • Reason: He doesn't meet WP:GNG, WP:BIO, WP:NBUSINESSPEOPLE. The only bit of coverage he has received is during Suri led Bay capital's acquisition of Barnes & Noble#Barnes & Noble Education which was termed by Forbes as "substantially undervalued BNED, were highly conditional and not credible". The second one is 1 or 2 pieces due to Bio diesel. He hasn't received significant coverage in any of the articles.
  11. Srinivas Ayyadevara nominated at AfD; notified Venkatfapcci (talk · contribs) 15:32, 26 August 2020 (UTC)
    • Reason: He doesn't meet WP:GNG, WP:BIO, WP:NBUSINESSPEOPLE or even WP:NPOL. He is amongst top officials of a number of local organizations. However he doesn't have significant or independent coverage. All coverage about him is either 1 liner quotes about some recent business impact or a press release stating his election or nomination to such and such post.
  12. Youth Against Rape nominated at AfD; notified Pratyush.shrivastava (talk · contribs) 16:33, 30 August 2020 (UTC)
    • Reason: This organization doesn't meet WP:GNG, WP:ORG and importantly WP:NGO. Out of 16 sources listed:
  • 6 don't mention the organization
  • 3 are pure listings
  • 3 are primary sources like org's Instagram page, declared press release article, organization written article in user-generated content website
  • 2 are same articles or sourced from same agency (TNN)
  • The last 2 sources cover the cycling event organized and have 1 line each about the organization.

These sources don't provide significant coverage of the organization. Outside these sources also, there is nothing to indicate significant coverage and hence notability.

September 2020

[edit]
  1. Raju Menon nominated at AfD; notified Jambrocco17 (talk · contribs) 15:06, 7 September 2020 (UTC)
    • Reason: The article is written in WP:PROMO style, created by a clearly COI editor (4 out of 5 edits are creating this article). The subject claim to fame seems to be included in "Top 100 Indian Leaders in the United Arab Emirates" by Forbes and similar such awards.
Much of the coverage seems to be one lines, one quotes or paid/promoted PR articles. He has two interviews published boosting his success by seemingly unreliable sources. The most significant coverage he has being on cover of Accountant Middle East magazine which is published by CFO Middle East group. This group publishes financial executives views and profile. It is very likely a paid advertising masquerading as trade journal.
The subject's official website mentions the Wikipedia page quite prominently, hence it seems important to them. Fails WP:ANYBIO, WP:NBUSINESSPEOPLE
  2. Bharat Gaurav International Achievement Award nominated at AfD; notified Ravindrapande (talk · contribs) 11:06, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
    • Reason: The award is non-notable not meeting WP:GNG criteria. Its written in very WP:PROMO nature despite being cleaned up during a AfD just nine months ago. Repeatedly single purpose accounts or IP address have added PROMO material [1] [2] [3] [4].
The main issue stems from the name of the award itself "Bharat Gaurav" which closely translates from Hindi to "Pride of India", and hence is a common name for awards given away by numerous organizations. The title of page itself is wrong, the award given by this organization is called "Bharat Gauarv Award". The other three awards mentioned in this page itself don't relate to the article (as if this page is a disambiguation page for all Bharat Gaurav awards). "Bharat Gaurav Achievement Award, Mumbai", "Bharat Gaurav International Achievement Award, Bahrain", "Bharat Gaurav Award, international, UN hall, New York" are different awards by different organizations. Indeed even in Wiki and on web, there are links for different prominent Bharat Gaurav awards, East Bengal F.C. Season Awards#Bharat Gaurav Award, India International Friendship Society, Bharat Gaurav Sanskruti Organization, Bharat Gaurav in Birtish Parliament
Hence the numerous links in the page itself are not about this award [5], [6], [7]. The only 2 articles in RS sources about this award are clear PR [8], [9]
I have taken all the information about this award from this official website [10] as it was confusing to navigate the myriad of such awards.

October 2020

[edit]
  1. The Oppidan Press nominated at AfD; notified OppiPress (talk · contribs) 13:22, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
    • Reason: Does not meet WP:GNG, WP:NMEDIA, WP:NNEWSPAPER. The only source in the article is a primary source, written by an early editor of the newspaper. Apart from that there is no significant coverage of the newspaper in secondary RS. The newspaper gets mentioned for its photo license attribution or its twitter account in other media articles regarding the activity in the campus. Also important to note is that campus newspapers are very rarely notable as per University article guideline. Though the article was created nearly 12 years ago, it was pretty clearly created by a COI account OppiPress (having a total of only 3 edits). The user also mentioned in its edit summary [11] not meant to be an advertisement. It's just filling a gap since other South African student newspapers have wiki articles, clearly pointing to WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS as the rationale for creating the article.
  2. Activate (newspaper) nominated at AfD; notified Elinor.Dashwood (talk · contribs) 13:43, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
    • Reason: Does not meet WP:GNG, WP:NMEDIA, WP:NNEWSPAPER. The only source in the article is a primary source, their own website on WordPress. The newspapers seems to have some history but I can't find any RS verifying that. Apart from that there is no significant coverage of the newspaper in secondary RS. The newspaper gets mentioned only a few times for its own quote or twitter account in other media articles regarding the activity in the campus. One source [12] that I found is written by an former editor and hence a primary source. Also important to note is that campus newspapers are very rarely notable as per University article guideline.
  3. Monday Morning (newsletter) nominated at AfD; notified CoolsidX (talk · contribs) 14:03, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
    • Reason: Does not meet WP:GNG, WP:NMEDIA, WP:NNEWSPAPER. The only source in the article is a primary source, their own website. Apart from that there is no significant coverage of the newspaper in secondary RS. Also important to note is that campus newspapers are very rarely notable as per University article guideline.
  4. School of Management, NIT Rourkela nominated at AfD; notified Whitecirius (talk · contribs) 22:21, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
  5. Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, NIT Rourkela nominated at AfD; notified Whitecirius (talk · contribs) 22:29, 25 October 2020 (UTC)

November 2020

[edit]
  1. Kundu Special nominated at AfD; notified LordGulliverofGalben (talk · contribs) 04:45, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
    • Reason: Does not meet WP:COMPANY & WP:GNG. The company exists and is a legacy company for tours in West Bengal, India. But apart from [13], I could not find any other significant coverage in independent RS required for conferring notability. There are a few passing mentions in some books. Noting that its does not meet WP:SIRS and there is no inherent notability as per WP:ORGSIG. The article has existed since 2007 but it is a pretty promo article for the business.
  2. Sweety Kapoor nominated at AfD; notified Neorobo (talk · contribs) 11:07, 27 November 2020 (UTC)
    • Reason: Fails WP:GNG, WP:BIO, WP:NBUSINESSPERSON, WP:ARTIST. The article has been existing since 2007, but could not find any significant coverage in any reliable sources conferring her the notability required here. Only name drops and one line interviews could be found. She seems to have collaborated with Talvin Singh, but the notability is not inherited by association.
  3. Raju Bhatt (Gujarat cricketer) nominated at AfD; notified Bobo192 (talk · contribs) 12:41, 28 November 2020 (UTC)
    • Reason: Was a declined PROD. No coverage found apart from 1 stats page showing that he played in a single match. Fails WP:GNG and WP:BIO. Also relevant is the relevant discussion regarding WP:CRIN

December 2020

[edit]
  1. Subhash Pal: nominated at AfD; notified Tuhinsubhrakonar (talk · contribs) 19:25, 31 December 2020 (UTC)
    • Reason: The subject does not satisfy WP:GNG, WP:BIO. It's effectively a case of WP:BLP1E. Very few people on the list List of people who died climbing Mount Everest have a stand-alone page and nearly all of them were accomplished, mountaineers. Subhash Pal does not have significant coverage in a single report. The news is often grouped with 3 deaths and 1 survival in their group and then the history of Everest climbing and statistics.

January 2021

[edit]
  1. Nelabhotla Venkateswarlu: nominated at AfD; notified Vgadityanit (talk · contribs) 07:32, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
    • Reason: The person does not meet WP:GNG, WP:BIO & WP:NBUSINESSPERSON. the coverage in secondary reliable sources is limited to name drops or quotations not amounting to any significant coverage.
  2. Le Strip: nominated at AfD; notified LED BodyBuilding (talk · contribs) 19:29, 29 January 2021 (UTC)
    • Reason: The article does not meet WP:GNG, WP:ORG and the WP:SIRS required for an private organization. Couldn't find a single independent significant RS coverage let alone multiple required for notability. The article was deprodded by the creator.

April 2021

[edit]
  1. Lokesh Kumar Meena: nominated at AfD; notified Lokeshmea (talk · contribs) 21:55, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
    • Reason: The subject doesn't meet WP:GNG, WP:BIO, WP:NSPORT. The claim to fame seems to be on obscure records without any verification, participating in obscure championships. The claim for Asian indoor marathon record is utter nonsense. First of all their is no verification, Asian Athletics doesn't even track that event [14]. No substantial coverage in any RS.
  2. Taru Mateti: nominated at AfD; notified Subhayu0101 (talk · contribs) 22:13, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
    • Reason: The subject doesn't meet WP:GNG, WP:BIO, WP:NSPORT. The subject is clearly an amateur runner. Only passing mentions in RS, no substantial coverage anywhere.
  3. Aishwarya Vinu Nair: nominated at AfD; notified Richardmat (talk · contribs) 19:37, 30 April 2021 (UTC)
    • Reason: She doesn't meet WP:GNG, WP:BIO and WP:NMODEL. The references available are either only sponsored content or passing mentions in non RS. Not a single significant coverage in a RS.
