Eduard Rudolf Roth (Romanian pronunciation: [ɛ-du-ard rudɑlf rɒθ]) also known as Rudy Roth is a Romanian poet, novelist, visual artist, journalist and political scientist. Born in Bucharest, to a multiethnic family, Eduard Rudolf Roth is the only offspring of Martin-Otto Roth, economist and Pușa Roth, a noted Romanian radio journalist, dramatist and teacher of Romanian language and literature.

He received its Bachelor's Degree in Economics from Bucharest University of Economic Studies in 2002 and a Master’s degree in Electronic Public Administration by the University of Bucharest in 2006. In 2008 he received a second Master's degree in in International Relations at the University of Kent at Canterbury. In 2015 he was awarded a PhD in Political Science by the National School of Political Science and Public Administration from Bucharest for his research on the Eastern dimension of Romania's foreign policy in the period 1989-2010.

From the year 1997 and until 2009 he was a journalist, producer and trainer for Romanian Radio Broadcasting Company, the public radio broadcaster in Romania.

Although he had received some training from established Romanian painter Sabin Bălașa, he is essentially a self-taught artist.

Visual Artwork[edit]

He made his official debut as a graphic artist in 2008, when several of his drawings illustrated a trilingual edition (French, English, German) of Lucian Blaga's The Prophet's Footsteps (Pașii profetului) poetry volume [1][2]. Two years later, other works signed by him will be chosen to illustrate a subsequent multilingual (French, Spanish, English, German) rendition of Lucian Blaga's In Praise of sleep (Lauda somnului) poetry volume (2010) [2][3] and poetry book entitled Last knots (Ultimele noduri) by Romanian actor and poet Mircea Albulescu (2010)[3][4].

Rudy Roth’s first solo exhibition La Déesse du temps perdu (The Goddess of the Lost Time) was held at the exclusive Metropolitan Library of Bucharest (September 30 - October 19, 2013)[5][6], and was curated by the art critics Costin Tuchilă and Marina Roman[7] [8]. The official opening, which took place on October 1, included a poetry recitation moment by actor Dorel Vișan and a Celtic harp interlude by Roxana Moișanu[9]. From 29 September to 5 October 2013 his works in digital and printed format were displayed in an exhibition entitled The Inspiration of Rudy Roth, an event organized by the Romanian Cultural Association of Hamilton and Toronto Observer newspaper, in RCA’s exhibition hall located in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada[10].
