Hydra Technologies is a Mexican company that develops, manufactures and operates unmanned aerial surveillance systems, equipment and services, which are used in strategic civil protection operations in cases of natural disasters; public and national security; as well as in applications for the agricultural, hydrological and environmental sectors, among others.

Trajectory

Headquartered in Jalisco, Mexico, Hydra Technologies was founded in 2005.

Since its creation, it has developed 11 models of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) with a cumulative of more than 100,000 flight hours.

Of these models, the following are still in production: S-45, S-4, G-3, G-2 and G-1. Meanwhile, the S-50 Kukulkan* model and the S-55 Ares* model are in the testing period.

Uses and applications

Hydra Technologies unmanned aircraft are used by civil protection, security and local government corporations. With the Hydra UAS, for example, images can be obtained in real time in emergency cases to assess damage, identify damaged areas and speed up relief work for the affected population.

Some of the strategic operations in which they are used are:

• Forest fire detection
• Monitoring of floods and natural disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes and tropical storms
• Highway patrols
• Port and border security
• Monitoring and detection of illegal logging
• Support in crop pest control actions
• Monitoring of large infrastructure works
• Fight against motor carriers theft
• Surveillance of electrical power lines

Technology

With 100% Mexican technology, Hydra aircraft and systems are developed under JARUS standards (Joint Authorities for Rulemaking of Unmanned Systems), a group made up of regional aviation security organizations from 63 countries.

Hydra systems are designed and built in Mexico, as well as their maintenance. Its technology and unmanned platforms have been recognized by distinguished associations, including the Association of Unmanned Vehicles International (AUVSI).

Hydra UAS are equipped with state-of-the-art camera systems that send video in real time; perform auto tracking, GPS fix, multi-target detection; super zoom up to 130X and are designed to operate day or night and in geographical areas that are difficult to access.

Awards

The company has national and international recognition:

✔ Award in 2007, "AL AUBE", Outstanding Contributor Award by the International Association of Unmanned Vehicles (AUVSI).

✔ It has also received an award for its design, innovation and technological advance from CIAM, the Da Vinci Award (2008), Contribution to Science and Technology in Mexico from the Government of Jalisco and COECYT (2008), Technology Innovation from CANIETI (2010) and Innovation for Competitiveness in Mexico by CONACYT (2009).

✔ At the FAMEX air show in 2017, Hydra received the Recognition of Aerospace Technological Merit.
