Music City Drum and Bugle Corps (also known as MCDC) is a drum and bugle corps (pronounced like "core") based in Nashville, Tennessee. It was founded by Music City Youth in the Arts in 2008, and its first season was 2009. It competes as a part of Drum Corps International (DCI).[1] It competes in the Open Class of DCI. During its first year of competition, it fielded a production entitled "Strike Up the Band!: A Celebration." Despite its meager 47 members, the corps achieved 13th place at the World Championships, just one place away from finals competition. This spurred the corps forward to the 2010 season with its production "River Sounds." Growing to an impressive 64 members, the corps continued in their tradition of generating a positive crowd response. During finals competition, the group reached 6th place. During the 2011 season, the corps plans on fielding a full-sized group of 150.[2] The corps' 2011 production is entitled "Let's Dance!"
The corps song is Tennessee Waltz, written by Redd Stewart and Pee Wee King in 1948.[3] The corps uniform is a red jacket with white pants with a red stripe down the leg. The jacket has the corps crest over the heart and silver citation cords on both shoulders. The gauntlets are white with silver buttons. The corps wears a red shako with the corps crest in the center and silver stripes and buttons and a black chin strap. The corps wears white shoes.
