Fudosteine

Fudosteine ((-)-(R)-2-amino-3-(3-hydroxypropylthio)propionic acid)is a novel mucoactive agent, although little is known about how fudosteine decreases mucin production.

Physicochemical properties of the active ingredient: Generic name: Fudosutein Common Name : fudosteine Chemical Name: (-)-( R)-2-amino-3-(3-hydroxypropylthio) propionic acid Molecular formula: C 6 H 13 NO 3 S Molecular Weight: 179.24 Melting point: 200 approx (decomposition) Physical properties: white crystal or crystalline powder, Very soluble in formic acid, freely soluble in water, acetic acid (100), less soluble in ethanol (95), very insoluble, practically insoluble in diethyl ether.
