Kolkata Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) is a new rapid transit project taken up by KMDA. Beginning at Ultadanga, the route will cover 15.5 kms running along the E M Bypass to Garia. The corridor connects major growth centres like Sector V,Rajarhat,Salt Lake, and Patuli township. The project is under construction, and expected to be completed by 2013.[1]

The route will cover places like Ultadanga,the Manicktala access to E M Bypass,Apollo Hospital,Narkeldanga,Salt Lake stadium,Beliaghata,Chingrihata,Metropolitan junction,Mathpukur,Science City,Panchanangram,VIP Bazar,Tagore Park,Ruby Hospital,Mandir Para,Prince Anwar Shah Road,Singhabari,Mukundapur,Ajoynagar,Peerless Hospital,Vaishnavghata-Patuli and Dhalai Bridge. Key junctions include Chingrihata,Paroma Island,Ruby Hospital and Prince Anwar Shah Road.

Design Speed

The speed design for the BRTS corridor is proposed to be around 50 km/h.
