Lani Pixels was founded in 2000 by Kim Pagel and his son, Thomas Pagel. From the very beginning, they focused on building a unique company specialized in producing computer generated animated films. Kim Pagel has a long history in the creation and production of animated film content, including many years with the LEGO Group. In 2013, Lani Pixels was rewarded with a Golden Dolphin in Cannes.[4] for the production of “The LEGO Story”[5]. On December 13th 2016 the company took its next big leap in achieving their vision to be among the elite in animation movie production. This happened when they sold 40% of the company shares to Omnito, Inc[6]

History

[edit]

In the year 2000, Lani Pixels was founded by Kim Pagel and Thomas Pagel. In the beginning the team was small, but they grew in the number of employees. With the small team, the company produced Spellbreaker 4D[7]. The first 4D Movie production in Denmark. This was rewarded with an invitation to the Danish Film Festival, Los Angeles, in 2006 [8].

By 2010, the team was too big for the office they had, so they moved to a bigger location, but still remained in Billund[9].This office is still active in Billund at the same location. In 2014, Lani Pixels opened up a new office in Dubai, which is now the new main office. The office Billund is still active, but the main workforce is based in Dubai. The expansion of the company didn’t stop here. In the following year, 2015, they opened their first office in the United States of America. More precisely in Los Angeles.

At the end of 2016, Lani Pixels sold 40% of the company to the Omnito, Inc..[6]

Forefront in 4D movie production in Denmark

[edit]

Lani Pixels is at the forefront when it comes to 3D stereoscopic technology, and the company behind the first 4D movie produced in Denmark: Spellbreaker 4D, which premiered spring 2006 in every LEGOLAND® park around the world. Lani Pixels created everything for the movie, from screenplay all the way to the final rendered movie. Spellbreaker 4D is still playing and has been seen by more than 3.5 million people. That lead to Lani Pixels giving a lecture about the 3D technology used in Spellbreaker 4D at the Danish Film Festival in Los Angeles in 2006.[8]

The Offices

[edit]

Lani Pixels started their first office in their own home. A small location with a 3-man team. It did not take very long before the office was not sufficient so they changed location to a office at “Kornmarken” in Billund, and a few years later, moved to their small studio at “Hovedgaden 32B, Billund”. In 2010, the company moved from Hovedgaden to the location that is still used today at Smedevej 5, Billund.

Lani Pixels’ main office was in Billund from year 2000 to 2014. In 2014, the Company expanded their office, to Dubai. The following year, 2015, they opened the office in U.S.A. At the time of this writing, Lani Pixels has offices in Billund (Denmark), Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and Los Angeles (United States of America).
