From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

CaseStack is a third party logistics provider of technology enabled transportation and supply chain management services. It is best known for its proprietary web-based IT platform and its collaborative retailer consolidation programs. Based in Santa Monica, California, CaseStack has been recognized in Food Logistics’ Top 85 3PL Providers[1], Global Logistics & Supply Chain Strategies 100 Great Supply Chain Partners [2] and Inbound Logistics’ Top 100 3PL Providers[3].

History

CaseStack was founded in 1999 by former Procter & Gamble executive, Dan Sanker. Besides the Santa Monica, CA office the Company also has a regional office in Fayetteville, Arkansas near Walmart’s headquarters, offsite locations in Manila and India, and American Institute of Baking (AIB) food certified warehouses in Portland, Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago, Atlanta and Scranton. There is also a warehouse in Toronto, Canada which aggregates to over 3,000,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space for the company.

Sustainability

CaseStack’s collaborative business practices lower unnecessary costs and reduce negative environmental impact across all modes; less-than-truckload, truckload, air, ocean, intermodal, expedited and parcel. Sanker, also the founder and managing director of Green Valley Network, initiated the industry’s first biodiesel program and has been recognized by Supply & Demand Chain Executive Magazine as a "Green Supply Chain Professional to Know”[4]. Utilizing consolidation programs, offered by companies, including CaseStack, Hanson Logistics and Millard, is a way for mid-sized businesses to achieve a critical mass in transportation, so they can more easily compete with the largest consumer packaged goods companies. Retailer-driven consolidation programs combine various products headed to the same retailer on one purchase order, shortening delivery times and reducing costs and damages. Consolidation programs are sustainable by design; they reduce the frequency of less-than-truckload (LTL) orders, thereby reducing carbon emissions. For suppliers, the conservation is most evident in transportation costs.[5]

Technology

CaseStack’s technological approach to logistics enhances the traditional transportation outsourcing models. It offers three distinct technology editions based on customer requirements:

• The Transportation Edition is designed for clients who choose to outsource only transportation services. This edition leverages various transportation optimizers, carrier search engines, and has transportation, execution, visibility, and reporting tools.

• The Logistics Edition takes this one step beyond the Transportation Edition; extending beyond transportation to include warehousing. It adds inventory tracking, planning and management tools.

• The Enterprise Edition is designed to be used by CaseStack’s more sophisticated clients who require integration into their enterprise-wide systems. It includes the following modules: Distribution Planning, Transportation Management, Inventory Management, Finance Administration, Metrics and Reporting Tools. Using CaseStack’s Web-based services APIs, data can be mirrored on a real-time basis, so that the CaseStack client’s local data warehouse is always in sync with CaseStack’s latest shipping, warehousing, inventory, and customer/product catalog information.
