Dermot Coburn[edit]

Dermot Coburn

Irish author and short story writer Dermot Coburn lives in Ravensdale, an idyllic village nestling along the southern slopes of Clermont Mountain in County Louth. Like many great Irish storytellers, his medium of choice is the short story. His stories generally revolve around the rich tapestry of characters and adventures that continue to populate the modern Irish landscape.

He is well known in Ireland as an entrepreneur, businessman, and creator of the Little Chic Knitwear and Boomerang apparel brands. His business interests also include micro brewing, sloe gin production, and herbal hair restoration tonic, all using local ingredients sourced in the Ravensdale area of County Louth.

To date, three of Dermot Coburn's short stories have been published by Booktango and these are synopsized below. Fans of the author point out that his stories cost less than the price of a daily newspaper and there's no better way to escape on a twenty minute adventure in modern Ireland, shorten your commuter journey, or simply put a smile on your face and set you up for the day.

Greenwell's Glory[edit]

A financial wizard in the city of London has just completed a billion pound deal. For rest and relaxation he travels to Ireland on a long promised fishing trip. On the riverbank, he encounters a little man wearing a cap who appears to have magical powers to such an extent that the Londoner perceives the little man to be a leprechaun but he is not! Before he returns to London he embarks on a singular plan to extract the little man's secret by plying him with whiskey and Guinness thereby revealing a bizarre tale of specimen brown trout and green silk knickers!

The Property[edit]

A big red dog fox roamed free in the beautiful valley where he was born. He had only one enemy, a cruel farmer who threatened to exterminate him. The fox was so frightened of the farmer that he seldom foraged on his property. However, one day the farmer brutally slaughtered his vixen and their two cubs. This cold blooded act provoked the broken hearted fox to wreak vengeance on the unsuspecting farmer. The Property has been described by the publishers as another intriguing yarn by the Irish short story writer, Dermot Coburn, who is fast becoming known as a writer of substance.

McCartneys of Rossnew[edit]

Patrick McCartney's family has been in business in Rossnew, a small Irish town, for more than one hundred years. Now Patrick finds himself at the helm at a time when the country is in deep recession, a recession he believes was caused by greedy bankers, dishonest developers and corrupt politicians. His bankers have called in his loans and are putting pressure on him to pay up. This is an impossible task. To Patrick, it seems that the bad guys always win. So, he devises a cunning plan to hand over his business to the bank to settle his loans and at the same time extract full market value for his business from the bank.

Kindle versions of all three books are available on Amazon.com, NOOK versions are available from Barnes & Noble and all other versions are available from the Booktango.com Bookstore.
