Omenka is Africa’s premium art, business and luxury-lifestyle magazine.


Publication: Omenka is published quarterly as a print magazine, an online digital platform and a mobile app. It is published in English by Revilo Company Limited with a circulation of 5,000 and a readership of 20,000 in 8 countries.

History: Omenka was first published as the New Awakening in 2008 with a central focus on promoting contemporary discourse on African visual arts. In 2012, the magazine was re-branded with the inclusion of online platforms, as well as a renewed focus on visual art to encourage investment in the emerging art finance industry in Africa, ultimately steering its direction, as well as cultivating taste and defining trends in contemporary visual culture and living.

In June, 2013, the magazine was re-launched promoting the latest news in contemporary culture from the continent and its related diaspora. Omenka has recently introduced an affordable and accessible educational platform that offers in-depth analysis and insider intelligence on the latest developments for investors in the African visual art sector.

Editor-in-chief and publisher: Since its inception, the Editor-in-chief has been Oliver Enwonwu, president of both the Society of Nigerian Artists and the Alliance of Nigerian Art Galleries. Enwonwu is the founder, executive director, and trustee of The Ben Enwonwu Foundation.
