Rose Laurente - Grant, born Rosa Athena "Rose" Grant née Laurente (Aug. 30, 1932 - May 24, 2011) was the sixth daughter of a Spanish father, Sulpicio P. Laurente and Spanish-Filipina mother Eufemia Barreda Castillo.
Rose was born and raised in the ancestral house of the Laurentes situated at the very heart of Bislig, Surigao Del Sur in the Philippines.
Her marriage to British scientist Mervyn Stuart Grant served as inspiration to many in her family who later also married foreign nationals. Their union did not produce any offsprings and she became a widow in her thirties.
She left the world with so many stories about her short but fulfilled life with her husband.
Early Life
Rose was born on August 30, 1932 to a Spanish trader, Sulpicio P. Laurente and a haciendera mother Eufemia Castillo - Laurente, the daughter of Spanish merchant Primitivo A. Castillo. Her father was the Municipal Vice President when her grandfather Primitivo became the first President of Bislig (now known as Bislig City), in 1920.
