Screenshot marketing is a form of Internet Marketing based on screenshots. Since screenshots show an image of a screen (or, say, a window within a computer screen, either existent or potentially existent), they provide visual information that can help inform consumer decisions. Although people are more inclined to look at text before images on web pages when looking for information [1], screenshots help to break up the monotony of text, potentially making it more visually stimulating. Expect marketers to collect data to determine the effectiveness of the look and demographic placement of screenshots throughout the Internet as it relates to impulse-clicking to improve website traffic via clickthrough rate. Screenshots can be deployed throughout electronic media, including e-newsletters; MySpace, Facebook or similar pages; or as a substitute for typical banner images. Some search engines like MSN's Bing and newer versions of browsers like Apple's Safari, now include preview screenshots in their search engine results or user homepages, respectively, [2] in order to enhance user experience.
