Early Life

Alexander Astridge was born in Cambridge, United Kingdom and moved to Dubai at 6 months old. He started skiing in Ski Dubai at the age of 3. He is still a resident in Dubai. Alex was born to Peter Astridge, a Pilot for Emirates and mother, Evelyn Pali who is a Sales Manager at BetterHomes. Alex attended Repton School, Dubai.

Career

He is currently an Alpine Skier from the United Arab Emirates Upon the confirmation of the participation of the United Arab Emirates at the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics, Alex was chosen at age 17[1][2]. He qualified for the Youth Olympics at the Dubai FIS races[3]. Alex represented the United Arab Emirates in the Gangwon 2024 Winter Olympics[4]. He represented the UAE in both Slalom and Giant Slalom, where he finished 38th in Slalom. Alex was also the Flag Bearer at the opening ceremony of the Youth Olympics[5]. The competitions took place in facilities across four different cities in Gangwon Province, the host province of the event. The UAE team at the 4th Winter Youth Olympics Games comprised snowboarder Amenah Al Muhairi, who competed in snowboard slopestyle,[6] and alpine skier Alexander Astridge, who competed in alpine skiing.[7] the UAE's participation, in which Alex represented the UAE at, was its debut.[8]
