From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

We Can Breathe In Space are an experimental post hardcore band named after huge international act Enter Shikari [1] formed in late 2008, who pride themselves on feedback of being involved with a wide genre and possessing a musical style of their own. They include a healthy mix of different genres combining fun pop punk catchy choruses with heavy synth breakdowns. Located in Perth, Western Australia they have recently released their Debut extended play (EP) titled The First Contact[2]. They are now getting ready to tour Australia in July with Sydney band Kings Of Stars. [3][4]

History[edit]

We Can Breathe In Space originally formed with member Jake Holland on Bass who has since been replaced with Nick Trutwein respectively, who has incorporated back up screams to expand the style. Starting at such an early of age 16 to 17 years old the band formed from an older tertiary musical performance studies band Winter Reborn with members Curran, Tozer and Bradbury. Then meeting the other members Trutwein and Sullivan at the same music school they formed with new friend Woodbridge on Keyboards to make We Can Breathe In Space with the band around the majority age of 18 years old. The name We Can Breathe In Space derived from part of the band being inspired by the Enter Shikari song "We Can Breathe In Space", although the rest of the band thought it was a nicer, non typical heavy band name were then unaware it was already a song name of an international UK band. Their first ever show was supporting big local talent Mandalay Victory in August 2009 for their benefit show to support their album funding. After headlining their third show and gaining the confidence of John Horner, the Co-founder of Jack and Sally Entertainment, they received support for international metal giants Haste The Day on their Australian tour. Gaining more supports including The Secret Handshake really proved that the commitment was there in playing such an open style of music. Later that year they were in the papers after they entered the Joondalup City Battle of The Bands 2009 and ended up winners receiving support slots for the Joondalup Festival the following year and prizes including recording time with Loop Studios who recorded the first album written by Birds of Tokyo. They then went on to release their Debut EP on march the 5th 2010 titled "The First Contact" recorded by Fat Pig Studios (Matt Gerber),[5] bringing over Sydney electro metal band Kings Of Stars[6] to play support for their launch going onto getting digital distribution of their music through tunecore online throughout the world. they recently supported the renown electro metal band House Vs. Hurricane on their perspectives album tour and became endorsed By Chivalry Clothing[7] and Eyes Of Envy Clothing. [8]
