Gary Earl Johnson (born January 1, 1953) is an American businessman, politician and athlete. Prior to being elected the 29th Governor of New Mexico (1995 to 2003), Johnson founded a successful construction company. He later ran for the Republican Party nomination for President of the United States in the 2012 election. Johnson is a triathlete and climbed Mt. Everest in May 2003.
