Miss Grand Iceland is a national beauty pageant title awarded to Icelander candidates elected to compete at the Miss Grand International pageant.[1][2][3][4] The title was first awarded in 2016 to a track and field athlete, Arna Ýr Jónsdóttir,[5] who later participated at Miss Grand International 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada, but withdrew before reaching the final event due to a conflict with the international organizer.[1][2][5][6]

No national pageant was individually held for Miss Grand Iceland, the titleholder was appointed.[1][2][3]

History[edit]

Iceland made its debut at the Miss Grand International pageant in 2016 after a pole vault athlete and former Miss Iceland 2015, Arna Ýr Jónsdóttir,[7][8] was assigned by a Stockholm-based pageant organizer, Miss Queen of Scandinavia, to represent Iceland at the international pageant held in Las Vegas, Nevada.[1][5][9] However, three days before reaching the pageant's grand final round, Arna withdrew from the competition after being told by pageant organizers to lose weight.[1][5][10] Her withdrawal was reported by various media worldwide, such as CNN and The Independent.[2][6]

Since 2017, no Icelandic representatives have been selected to compete in the pageant.
