Thorongil, more commonly known as Estel, is a bit of an eccentric. No surprise, really, if you look at her articles that she has contributed to. As a crazy person by occupation and a student on the side. She aspires to be a costume designer.

History

[edit]

Estel began as an egg in her mother's womb. We won't go into the specifics because, after all, who wants to hear those anyways? On February 23, 1988, she was born in Long Beach, CA. She grew up only a few cities south of there, Huntington Beach, CA, with both her parents and her older brother.

She attended many schools growing up, as many people do. While she did that, she took part in many extracurricular activities like choir, softball, academic decathlon, singing for a big band, field hockey, and many forms of scouting. She participated actively in Girl Scouts, Sea Scouts, and Venturing, leading her unit at least once in each. She was on Venturing staff at the Boy Scout National Jamboree in 2005. Estel did not like it at all, but met some pretty cool people while she was there.

She is currently attending UC Berkeley with a focus on theater. Theater, despite her avid love for it now, was not her intended focus when she got to Cal. Originally, she was admitted to the school to play NCAA Division 1 Field Hockey as a goalkeeper. This did not work out, however, so instead she pursued her life-long love of costumes. She has thus far had a successful student career as a costume designer and aims to graduate in 2010.

Cosplay

[edit]

Cosplay . Com

Among her many hobbies, cosplay is one of her favorites. The hours of labor and money that she has put into her costumes over the years has paid of tremendously in her pursuit of becoming a costume designer. Her notable costumes include:

-Aragorn from Lord of the Rings
-Lara Croft from the Tomb Raider series
-William Turner from all three Pirates of the Caribbean movies
-Sirius Black from Harry Potter
-Captain Jack Harkness from Doctor Who and Torchwood

Instead of simply selecting one costume for each character, Estel tends to do multiple costumes if the character has them. Her Will Turner collection includes one from each of the three films. More recently, her Jack Harkness collection has reached a nearly absurd number, including nearly all of his clothing from both his Doctor Who and Torchwood appearances.

Conventions are her primary venue for cosplay. Conventions she has attended include:

-San Diego Comic Con International
-Anime Expo
-Gallifrey One
-Anime Los Angeles
-AniMagic
-LosCon
-One Ring Celebration

At these conventions she is commonly seen working hard as first mate of the Rum Party crew.

Costume Design

[edit]

It is still quite early in Estel's costume design career. Now with two years under her belt of studying the art, she has begun to build a resume including notable names she has worked alongside and rave reviews for her work.
