Rose Garden Restaurant, Manali The Rose Garden Restaurant was possibly one of the first Italian restaurants in India, started in 1985 in Vashisht, Manali, Himachal Pradesh. The Chefs are brought in periodically from Italy to train the staff in both cooking and the art of serving. The cuisine is authentically Italian, using locally grown organic ingredients and herbs, and locally manufactured cheeses. The restaurant features a Garden Cafe, a live kitchen with a wood-fired oven and grill, and a hot kitchen and fine dining area. It is nestled in the Himalaya, amongst greenery and flowers. It was previously run by Sudhakaran KP and Rosalba Lucioli, when it had clientele featuring the then Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and famous Bollywood stars. The restaurant re-opened in September 2011, run by their son Shiva Keshavan (4 time Winter Olympian and Asian record holder) and his wife Namita Agarwal.
