From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Alek Shrader is a tenor who recently made his debut onto the professional opera scene in the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis's version of Il Barbiere di Siviglia, playing Count Almaviva. Alek has also appeared in productions for the San Francisco Opera, as Victorin in Die Tote Stadt, Arbace in Idomeneo and Nemorino in The Elixir of Love and The Elixir of Love for Families. He has also performed in a Juilliard Opera Center production. Alek is the winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions[1], he was featured in 'Great Performances at the Met: The Audition' which airs on PBS, where he was a featured performer/contestant, in which he and five others won, insuring a professional career in Opera for all six. Alek, who attempts (and succeeds) to sing nine high C’s in a difficult aria, that arguabley helped make Pavarotti a star. Alek also has received a Sarah Tucker Grant from the Richard Tucker Foundation.
