UMAUD Environment and Natural Resources Studies at the University of Iceland is an international program of graduate-level study in Environment and Natural resources within the University of Iceland. UMAUD is the first interdisciplinary graduate program at the University of Iceland, and a collaboration of the faculties of Social Sciences, Humanities, and Engineering and Natural Sciences. It was formed in 2005 as the program in Environmental studies and the program in Fisheries studies were merged and the program focused to address emerging environmental and resource management issues.


Academic Program[edit]

Students in the two year program in Environment and Natural Resources at the University of Iceland concentrate on issues such as sustainable energy systems and policy, energy and the environment, environmental science and policy, environmental management and natural resources management such as fisheries and wilderness management. Students complete 120 ECTS and graduate with an M.Sc. or an M.A. degree in Environment and Natural Resources. All instructions and correspondence are in English.

In an interdisciplinary program, the faculty comes from many fields of study. The core supervising teachers for the program are Brynhildur Davidsdottir, Associate Professor of Biology/Economics; Þóra Ellen Þórhallsdóttir, Professor of Biology; Sigríður Þorgeirsdóttir,Associate Professor of Philosophy.
