Teng Ngiek Lian
Mr. Teng Ngiek Lian is the founder of Target Asset Management, an asset management specialising in value investing in Singapore. Ngiek Lian is a former Managing Director of Morgan Grenfell Investment Management Asia and Managing Director of UBS Asset Management, Singapore. He has more than 40 years of industrial and investment experience in Asia. [1]
Ngiek Lian managed more than US$2 billion of assets before winding down the flagship Target Asia Fund. The Target Asia Fund delivered an almost 10-fold return during its 14-year existence before he wound down its operations in July 2010. [2]
He returned from retirement in April 2011 with a new Target Value Fund. Unlike his previous fund which sought to beat the MSCI Asia ex-Japan Index , the new fund will aim for absolute returns over a three-year period. Investors who withdraw their money within three years will have to pay a penalty that will be reinvested in the fund. The target size is US$500 million and approximately US$300 million has been raised.
Ngiek Lian is a director on several boards; including Fullerton Fund Management company and van Biema Value Partners. [3]
