Upside-Down Heart

The incredible photo in which the upside-down heart appears on top of the woman's head was taken in April 2015 at Cape Saint Vincent, Portugal. This area has been considered sacred ground and has a rich maritime history filled with naval battles and piracy.

At the time the photo was taken, the woman in the photo was unaware of what was taking place; it was only after reviewing the holiday photos did the upside-down heart shape stand out to her. This prompted the woman to explore further the area's history and the symbolism of the upside-down heart shape.
