Supreme sundar (born Somasundaram on 01 June 1970) is an Indian action director and action choreographer, who is working in the Tamil film industry.[1] He has also worked in Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi movies. He made his debut in aanai (2005) directed by selva. His Notable works from Chennai 600028 (2007), Goli soda (2014), Jallikattu (2019), Ayyappanum Koshiyum (2020), Minnal Murali (2021), Thunivu (2023), Animal (2023).[2]

He earned National award for Best Action Director for Ayyappanum Koshiyum on 2022.[3] Also he earned Best Stunt Director award by Star Vijay for Goli soda on 2014.[4] Also he earned Best stunt award by Behindwoods for Goli soda. [5]

He is currently working with Suriya in Kanguva[6] and Ajith Kumar in vidaa Muyarchi.

He is the grandson of fight master Stunt Somu who is the first action director of kollywood.[7] His father is also an action director Junior Somu and His elder brother is also an action director Action prakash. He deserved from the family which is having four stunt masters of kollywood.

Career[edit]

After finishing school education, Sundar started his career as a video camera man in 1985. Then he moved to Square D Grenade, a software company. In 1993, He got membership card for stuntmen union and joined an extra fighter to Rambo Rajkumar at Amaidhi Padai (1994). Then he worked more than 500 movies as an extra fighter and assistant fight master. In 2006, director Selva gave him an opportunity for his film aanai. Then he is working as a full-length action choreographer for several movies in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi. He has noted in films such as Chennai 600028 (2007), Goli soda (2014), Jallikattu (2019), Ayyappanum Koshiyum (2020), Minnal Murali (2021), Thunivu (2023), Animal (2023). In 2014, he got recognition for movie goli soda directed by Vijay Milton.[8] His recent movie is Thunivu[9] in Tamil and Animal in Hindi. His upcoming movies are Kanguva and Vidaa Muyarchi.[10]

Personal life[edit]

Sundar is a grandson of kollywood’s first fight master stunt somu. His grandfather’s famous works are aayiram thalai vangiya apporva sindhamani (1947), Chandralekha(1948), Manthiri Kumari (1950), Pathala Bhairavi(1951), Gulebakavali(1955), Veerapandiya Kattabomman (1959), karnan(1964). His father is also worked in Tamil movies as a fight masters. He has two siblings. Elder brother action prakash is also a full length fight master; his notable works are Rajavin Parvaiyile (1995), Chithiram Pesuthadi (2006), Yuddham Sei(2011), Mugamoodi(2012) and Maryan(2013).[11]

Sundar married vannamayil and they have a daughter name Ruhika doing her schooling.
