Pekka Viljakainen (*1972, Finland) is one of Europe's leading architects of the information society. His belief into the digitalization of information and knowledge work as well as his strong perspective on the shift of power in the direction of customers and consumers have earned him the nickname of "Bulldozer". He holds an engineering degree of the University of Technology in Lappeenranta, Finland.
Passion for IT
[edit]For over 20 years Pekka Viljakainen has worked as an ambassador between business executives and technology teams. His in depth understanding for technology and his talent for navigating through complex business situations has enabled him to build this bridge between business drivers and IT specialists. He started as an entrepreneur in 1986 by establishing Oy Visual Systems Ltd. (1986-2004). Through the acquisition of his company he joined / Tieto (TietoEnator at that time) in 2004, which made Mr. Viljakainen one of the corporation's biggest private shareholders. With his newest venture, the NO FEAR community, Pekka Viljakainen intends to leverage his and his network's experience to a new level and establish a platform for executives and business drives for exchanging their point of view and experience in the current turbulences of corporate life and change.
Mr. Viljakainen has been a frequent speaker on key IT industry events across the globe including the INTEROP IT Expo and Conference in Las Vegas and the Gartner ITxpo in Cannes.
As a partial owner of / AII Corporation, a private aviation service provider, he is able to stay connected to one of his major hobbies: flying.
Passion for Music and Art
[edit]Pekka Viljakainen's passion for music is expressed through his active support of Helsinki's annual music festival / Helsinki Spring Light Chamber Music Festival starting in 2008 with an ongoing commitment until 2028. His charity foundation is supporting upcoming artists and ensures that the festival is able to reach entusiasts for classical music throughout Scandinavia and all over Europe. Pekka's dedication to classical music might be partly derive from the fact that he's married to the lovely Anastasia Injushina, a dedicated chamber musician and pianist. Besides her own musical activity Anastasia acts as artistic director of the Helsinki Spring Light Chamber Music Festival.
