Copper(IV)chloride or CuCl4 is a chemical substance with thermochromical properties. When heated up, the color switches from bright green to a muted yellow. The range for a color switch can appear between 51.9˚C-62.5˚C. In its regular form, it forms a square planar shape. When heated, the form changes to a tetrahedral shape, appearing as a yellow color form.

The melting point for CuCl4 is approximately 82˚C.

CuCl4 is water soluble and sensitive to water. It nearly always contains water.
