Sharood

The app[1] allows people to share food with others in their neighborhoods through a virtual currency known as cookies. If someone is not in the mood to cook they can become the gourmet and find a chef nearby for a meal. If someone is cooking they can become a chef and invite potential gourmets to enjoy a meal together.

So far the target audience is college campuses where students have no meal plan but do have a kitchen. This hopefully creates a community within the university. For now, the app is still under construction and is being developed by coders around the world, but it is under way.

The idea on safety is a major concern that can linger in the minds of the users, yet Sharood targets this by including a chat in the app. Gourmet's and chef's can talk to each other before meeting in person and get a sense of who they are. Plus, the idea is that a group of unacquainted students meet together, so everyone starts off a bit nervous. Also, the majority of the homes are all on campus which ensures a safer atmosphere. Some advice on safety[2] is also mentioned on Sharood's website letting users know, whether gourmet and chef, can do in case they are concerned.
