Hindi literature's Devotional period is said to have existed from the year 1375 to 1700. This was Hindi literature's greatest period. Hindi Literature's greatest poets and writers existed in this period
In the South, Renowned devotees known as Aalwar Friends existed. Some of them even belonged to the so-called lower castes of the society. They were not much educated but were experienced. Among these Aalwars, a tradition of teachers started, among whom Ramanuja was renowned.
In Ramanujacharya's tradition, Ramachanda was born. His personality was extra-ordinary. He was the biggest teacher of that time. He made officials of all castes as his disciple. It became the norm at that time:
जाति-पांति पूछे नहिं कोई।
हरि को भजै सो हरि का होई॥
(No religion-castes
He who prays to God, becomes God's own.)
Ramanand emphasized the worship of the incarnations of Vishnu Ram. Ramanand and his disciples spread the Southern devotion to the North. The entire North India began flowing in this virtue-flow. The Saints and the emergence of Mahatma devotees arrived at that time across India.
