League news
[edit]Piratas de Quebradillas claimed it's 6th BSN championship on August 9th. After defeating the Capitanes de Arecibo in Game 7 of the Serie Final 98-90 to the end of the 2017 season.
Leones de Ponce reported on August 24th; Head coach Nelson Colón had resigned from his position as coach despite the team's absolute endorsement to continue. Throughout his 5 seasons he led Ponce finishing among the best 4 records of the regular season in 4 of them, 3 finals, and 2 championships.[1]
On September 1st, the league announced it will not control the Atléticos de San Germán for the upcoming 2018 BSN season, after activating the team last season. There was a commitment to run the team under receivership for a single year until a new owner was found.[2] The good performance of the team has raised the interest of several groups to buy the franchise with a view to the 2018 tournament. On September 14th, league president Fernando Quiñones was hopeful that both the A's and Indians' franchise will see action next season under their own administrations although talks are still in preliminary stages. In the coming weeks will know the future of the Atléticos de San Germán and the Indios de Mayagüez in Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN).[3]
