Rao Bahadur Goteti Yoganandam B.E., A.I.I.Sc, A.M.I.E.E., (November 5, 1901 – July 1, 1947) was noted Indian engineer (Mechanical & Electrical) and academic who served as the first Superintending Engineer(Technical) of the Government Electricity Department, Madras. Born to a Telugu Niyogi Brahmin family in Bhimavaram , West Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh, Yoganandam was the fourth and youngest son of Goteti Venkata Siva Rao, a leading advocate and freedom fighter from Bhimavaram, after whom the neighborhood Sivaraopet was named.
Early life
[edit]Having lost his parents at the age of four, Yoganandam was brought up by his elder brother Goteti Jogiraju Panthulu. Following his schooling in Rajahmundry, he completed his intermediate at the Maharaja's College Vizianagaram and went on to graduate with honours in Mechanical Engineering from Guindy, Madras University.
