1st Love is the debut studio album by the Japanese idol group Naniwa Danshi. The album was first released through their record label J Storm on July 13, 2022 in three versions: 2 first press editions and a regular edition.[1] The album topped both the Oricon Albums Chart and Billboard Japan Hot Albums chart, selling over 712,000 copies in Japan in its first week.[2] It has since been certified triple platinum by the RIAJ.[3]

Album information[edit]

The album's lead song, "Diamond Smile" is the re-recorded version of the group's pre-debut song. Besides Diamond Smile, most of Naniwa Danshi's pre-debut original songs are also included in first press edition 1. First press edition 2 includes the last day recording of Naniwa Danshi's 2019-2020 first live tour at Osaka-jō Hall. Standard edition includes two new songs.[1]

Songs[edit]

1st Love includes three of the group's previously released singles: "Ubu Love", and double A side singles "The Answer" and "Sachiare".[1]

"Ubu Love" was used as a theme song in various media; television drama My Love Mix-Up! which starring member Shunsuke Michieda, commercial for Softbank's 5G Lab, Naniwa Danshi x GU collaboration campaign, and Lawson campaign.[4] "The Answer" was used as theme song for 2022 television drama The Kindaichi Case Files (also starring Michieda).[5] "Sachiare" is currently the theme song for Mezamashi TV since April 2022.[6]
