query about meaning of "reviewed"
[edit]@TechnoSquirrel69 - Thank you for reviewing this article. I have a background in old-fashioned analog copy editing but am new to Wikipedia. What does it mean that this article was reviewed but neither accepted nor declined? Is further feedback needed or should I continue to edit the article as I see fit and wait for another review? Thank you so kindly so your eyes and assistance. 00ranges (talk) 05:09, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hey 00ranges, could you link to the article that you're referring to in your message? I'm not entirely sure what the context of your question is. Thanks. —TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 06:21, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
- The article I'm referring to is Draft:David Hertzberg. I received a notice that you reviewed the article yesterday, but the article was neither accepted nor declined. I'm curious to know what this means, and if there is something I should do as a result. Many thanks for your help. 00ranges (talk) 09:41, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
- I'm still checking with some of the software people, but I believe that message was sent to you by mistake. I was conducting some routine checks on your draft, but I did not engage with it in my capacity as an AfC reviewer. I appreciate your patience with the situation; you can feel free to continue editing the page as usual. Let me know if you have any questions! —TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 19:46, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks so much for looking into this and for your quick reply. Is there something I can do to further improve the article and/or expedite the review process? Appreciate your help and expertise here. 00ranges (talk) 20:49, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
- As you can see below, I've accepted your submission. The most important feedback I have for you is to avoid copying text from external sources — your draft contained entire paragraphs copied from the sources cited, which is not acceptable on Wikipedia per the copyright violations policy. I have removed a significant amount of text, but there's still some cleanup left to do. See the report — the similarity percentage should ideally be in the single digits. Also, the source BroadwayWorld is considered unreliable, and I'd recommend removing or replacing any citations to it. I've placed some maintenance tags on the article highlighting these issues which you can feel free to remove once addressed. Let me know if you have questions about anything else. —TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 21:34, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
- Many thanks for your help with this, for accepting the article, and for your feedback. I have deleted all uses of the source BroadwayWorld, and in one instance, replaced it with a reliable source. And thank you for your edits to the quoted material. I have edited and changed them a bit to prioritize relevant description of the subject over qualitative evaluation, and paraphrased and summarized accordingly to avoid excessive quoting of cited sources. I have also removed the maintenance tags. Again, many thanks for your assistance. 00ranges (talk) 23:29, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
