By general consensus and the principle of least confusion, Wikipedia does not designate dogs as wolves. We call a dog a dog. While there is argument to be made that a dog is a subspecies rather than a true species, the vast majority of people would not say that Benji, Lassie, etc. were all wolves.

Should this be too upsetting for you to accept, you may wish to change cases where Canis lupus familiaris is identified as a species to Canis familiaris. If that is insufficient, please raise the issue at Wikipedia:Village pump. - SummerPhD^v2.0 17:29, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
