License tagging for Image:WRCR Alumni logo.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:WRCR Alumni logo.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 22:08, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of WRCR (college radio)[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article WRCR (college radio), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

WRCR (college radio)

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. WRCR (college radio)[edit]

Just so you know, the licensing tag you added to WRCR (college radio) is intended only for image pages, not the articles in which the image is used. I have removed it from the article. - Dravecky (talk) 20:38, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also, massive copyright violation is seriously frowned upon. Very seriously. It appears that most of the text you're adding is from this website and related pages. Please remove the offending text immediately. - Dravecky (talk) 20:59, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If, as you claim, the text on the website was created by you, some proof would need to be offered before it could be accepted at Wikipedia. Also, as it stands, the article is now a long, unreferenced essay in desperate need of wikification. What might be suitable for a fansite is not necessarily suitable for an encyclopedia. - Dravecky (talk) 14:36, 5 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the "long, unreferenced essay in desperate need of wikification". Those interested will find it on the radio station's web site. All of that now removed text was written by me over a couple of years of research. How would one go about proving that he wrote the text on a web site? You can look up the site owner through whois. 2/5/20091200Flasher (talk) 11:24, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WJMA-FM[edit]

First off, please use the four tildes ~~~~ when sending messages. It was difficult find out who sent your message.

Secondly, there are set guidelines on what radio station pages are called...and how they are refered to. What you see on the page currently is accurate, -AM and -FM additions are not necessary. Furthermore, there are no stations with "-AM" in their official FCC call sign. This would open a can worms you don't even want to know about. Perhaps calling it "vandalism" was a little harsh, but when a person edits changes things like that, I tend to go the vandalism route. - NeutralHomerTalk • February 16, 2009 @ 02:01

I did not name the page WJMA-FM. Someone else has named it and redirected it from the WJMA page I created.

While I agree that the AM and FM are not necessary, it does make it clearer which band the stations operate on.

I did read the vandalism definition and felt it was harsh because the changes were a good-faith effort to make the information clearer to the reader who may not be versed in the finer points of station call letters. "Any good-faith effort to improve the encyclopedia, even if misguided or ill-considered, is not vandalism. Even harmful edits that are not explicitly made in bad faith are not considered vandalism. For example, adding a controversial personal opinion to an article once is not vandalism; reinserting it despite multiple warnings is. Not all vandalism is obvious, nor are all massive or controversial changes vandalism. Careful attention may need to be given to whether changes made are beneficial, detrimental but well-intended, or outright vandalism." I think it would have been better to call it a style or format error.

I'm a fairly infrequent user of Wikipedia and was not aware of the tilde use until after I posted my comment. I did go back and add it later when I found out about it. Sorry if it caused you extra work.1200Flasher (talk) 14:04, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
