Dear Mr Ollie.

[edit]

I'm Andrea Oliva,

I'm a student from Bocconi University in Milan Greenpop is a very well recognized NGO in South Africa that deals with tree planting and reforestation. It has been mentioned in many famous & respected journals, like the New York Times and The Guardian. You can also see that in some pages in which I wrote about Greenpop, I've attached the website of the Cape Town Government as a source, because we are quite known here in South Africa and the government wrote more than once about us. My goal is to spread the word about it by talking about it in the most appropriate sectors, such as reforestation and citizenship pages for example. We are not advertising a product or something that we want to sell. We are just trying to let as much people as possible to get to know Greenpop and what it does for the communities around Africa. It's just like Greenpeace for example, but smaller, way smaller.

I hope you understand my position and if you have some suggestions on how to post contents correctly, without giving the impression to advertise the NGO, it would be very appreciated.

Greenpop has been doing important work and has been operating across Africa for the last 10 years.

Thank you for your time and patience, I hope we can start a conversation.

Kind regards,

Andrea Oliva. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Andrea green97 (talkcontribs) 09:04, 28 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It sounds like a good cause, but the purpose of Wikipedia is not to 'spread the word' about even good causes, we regard it as promotion and counter to our goals of building and maintaining an encyclopedia. - MrOllie (talk) 12:23, 28 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
