William Davenport was also Director of Armagh Observatory 1815 - 1823 (until his death, by suicide). Several of his chroniclers seemed to have a rather poor opinion of him, mind, possibly because they didn't realise he was Erasmus Smith's Professor at TCD alongside his directorship, too (since none of them mention it, except the recent armagh.space source).
