What gets better if the link goes via the redirection People's Republic of China instead of directly to China? 217.213.85.191 (talk) 17:12, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! The answer to your question can be found at Wikipedia:Redirect#Do not "fix" links to redirects that are not broken. As for the specific edit: there was nothing wrong with changing the Soviet link to go directly to the article, and your edit to the railway line link was an improvement as far as I can see. However, changing the link in the hatnote was not helpful – the point of the hatnote is that "North China" should not be confused with "Northern China", and changing the text to instead read "Northern and southern China" removes some of the clarity. It is also preferable to continue linking via the redirect Northern China as it is a redirect from a subtopic and it's conceivable that one day it may get expanded into a separate article. – Uanfala (talk) 17:22, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
