Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, 77 woodmont, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few links to pages you might find helpful:

You may also want to take the Wikipedia Adventure, an interactive tour that will help you learn the basics of editing Wikipedia.

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or click here to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. Again, welcome! I see that you're a new editor, and I hope you will be patient with warnings about policies and rules, which can be overwhelming at first. --doncram 23:38, 16 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

discussion on Sageworks article

[edit]

FYI, I've posted the following to any participants in the recent Articles For Deletion process on Sageworks, who weren't already invited:

"Hi, there's some active editing and discussion going on about the Sageworks article at Talk:Sageworks, and you're invited to participate. Some editors commenting in the recent AFD have already been invited by another editor, and i am just making a point to contact the others, including you, to avoid any appearance of selectivity."

And, I think because you are a new editor and your contributions so far seem focused on the Sageworks article, it's been questioned whether you might have a Conflict of Interest that should be disclosed. Please consult wp:COI guidelines. If you do have association with Sageworks, that's fine and you can edit at the article and definitely participate in discussion at Talk:Sageworks, but please do try to comply with the guidelines. If you do participate further there, could you humor me and make a statement whether you have any association or not with the company, in the Talk page section about that, please? Thanks --doncram 23:38, 16 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've posted the above also at User talk:Entrepreneurship58039‎ and at User:Roamingeditor222226, two other new editors who have so far just edited about Sageworks. Let me warn you, it is made to be a huge issue in editing wikipedia, if there's any appearance that an editor is using multiple accounts and editing from them on one topic, giving the impression of more support for some point of view. The crime is called "sockpuppeting" and policy is described at wp:SOCK. If an accusation of sock-puppeting is made, there is an investigation done, and technical experts are quite capable at identifying IP addresses and connections between accounts; no one can get away with it for long. In this Sageworks situation, let me say it is pretty obvious from the fact that you and the other two persons have been editing only on Sageworks, and from the similarity of your stated interests at userpages, that you three are associated: perhaps 3 separate persons at the same company, say, or perhaps just one person opening and using 3 accounts. I happen to think it's a bit crazy, but this is taken as about the worst crime possible, and anyone doing this is likely to be banned/blocked from participating in Wikipedia, permanently or temporarily. If the 3 accounts are for one person, it could be understood that you are a new editor, and if you admit the connection of the accounts publicly and agree to use just one going forward, it would be okay. Perhaps you lost the password, and/or wanted to use a different username (but FYI username changes can be done for you). Please 'fess up if that is the case! Or, please explain how 3 separate persons got started at about the same time. That happens also. I'll watch here, but feel free to contact me again at my Talk page, especially if i don't respond quickly here. cheers, --doncram 23:38, 16 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
