Hello, I'm Oblivy. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Atlético Bucaramanga, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Your account appears to be devoted to linking articles to a single blog about football club nicknames. Blogs are generally not considered reliable sources and the blog appears to consist of original research. You could link, for example, to an article in a reputable publication. For now I have only reverted the most recent ones but there are about 50 others. Please either stop linking to the blog, or leave a comment explaining why this complies with Wikipedia policies. - I acknowledge that I have only added sources to this site. I am sorry if I have broken any Wikipedia rules. I would like to make two comments following your message. First you say that a blog is not a reliable source. I think you are confusing form and content. A blog is only a means to do a site, a media and it does not prohibit or contradict to propose quality articles. many blogs are recognized as reliable sources. on the other hand, regarding some information about football clubs, they are stated on Wikipedia without any citation or source. is it more reliable? 91.168.234.50 (talk) 10:00, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hello and thanks for your reply. It's not a question of breaking rules, but rather that an encyclopedic article should be content which can be verified from reliable secondary sources. Yes, blog might be as accurate as, say, an established newspaper or magazine. But anybody can produce a blog and many blog posts don't cite any sources. And if they cite sources, then those sources can be used on Wikipedia instead of the blog.
- You are right, many articles about football stars and teams have weakly cited or uncited information, and some cite blogs. Often that should be fixed or the information should be removed. But it doesn't mean that we should simply add more unverified information to pages simply because they are football sites and everybody's doing it.
- There is a specific policy at WP:BLOG that discusses situations where citing a blog may be appropriate. For example, maybe the blog is the official site of an amateur team/league or is maintained by the player (although people sometimes aren't truthful about themselves!). In general, the use of blogs is discouraged and for good reason.
- I hope this is helpful, and that you won't be discouraged from editing Wikipedia in the future. If you can see fit to remove the inappropriate sourcing from the articles you have already edited, all the better. Oblivy (talk) 12:22, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
