[edit]Hello, I'm AirshipJungleman29. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Yesugei, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 16:00, 13 December 2022 (UTC)
Genghis Khan
[edit]Hi, A14..! I just wanted to drop a note explaining my reversion of your edit to the Genghis Khan page. I see you added a precise date of 31 May for his birth, cited to the Historical Dictionary of Mongolia, specifically the quote "In February 1962, Tömör-Ochir was charged by the MPRP Politburo with the task of organizing the national celebrations of the 800th anniversary of the birth of Genghis Khan on 31 May of that year." I believe this is a slight misinterpretation of the source--"on 31 May of that year" is referring to the date of the 800th anniversary celebration, not the date itself. As the article says, even the year is uncertain for his birth; we can't narrow it down to the exact day, and I don't think the source you cited is actually trying to do so. - Sechin Jagchid 's "蒙古黃金史譯註" quoted the "Altan Tobchi" and said that Genghis Khan was born on 16 April of Lunar calendar, that is, 31 May 1162.[1]
- Is it possible to use this source? A1472583698025 (talk) 14:59, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, I'm not qualified to definitively state anything about that source, since I can't read it myself. But if the ultimate source of the date is the Altan Tobchi, then it's probably not a great source, as the Altan Tobchi isn't itself a good source for hard historical facts (it was written some 500 years after Genghis Khan lived and died), so my instinct is that no, this probably wouldn't be a good source, either.
