Sources[edit]

I have tried to find sources for the articles you created and, with the exception of the articles you yourself wrote, I have found none for any of the articles you started. The articles appear to be nonsense. If I am mistaken, I apologize. Either way, please provide an outside source. Perspicacite 07:06, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please clarify if the sources you meant were related to the Understanding Heaven and Hell or the Feast of Immortal Peaches articles, I have checked the extrenal links to both and found them workable, albeit only in chinese, RSVP ACHKC 07:19, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Alex[reply]

Understanding Heaven and Hell, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Understanding Heaven and Hell satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Understanding Heaven and Hell and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Understanding Heaven and Hell during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. • Rocket000 & ShuminWeb's feedback appreciated. Several English links have been given in the past day or so. The lack of full english translation or english websites for both books, should not deprive the opportunities for both books to be included in the English Wikipedia for the simple reasons that the messages therein might be worthwhile or of interest to some of your readers. UHH is 320,000 words in Chinese, FOIP probably 130,000~150,000, a pity that no scholars have yet translated them. That said, the latitude I requested yesterday is to see if Wiki have any editor conversant with chinese to at least give the two passages a review before you dismiss them as contrived, and delete them summarily.ACHKC 01:59, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
ACHKC, I truly believe you are working here in good faith. I never said I thought it to be contrived or fake, I just said it's not verified. Let me explain why it I submitted it for deletion. Your articles aren't something I normally put up for deletion, but someone else had already marked it for speedy deletion [1]. After reviewing the article "Understanding Heaven and Hell" and talking with you, I decided that it shouldn't be speedy, however, as is standard process, when another editor removes a speedy delete, they should list it in Articles for Deletion (AfD). This is basically a way to get other editor's input. This also gives you more time in finding sources. I'll try to help in anyway possible, but I obviously don't speak Chinese. Any further discussion pertaining to these articles should be discussed on their respective AfD pages, so other editors may see it. So far, I don't see any consensus forming, which defaults to keeping the articles. I wish you (and these pages) the best of luck. -Rocket000 10:21, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sources in Chinese?[edit]

Could you provide any more sources mentioning those books? Mention them at the AfD disscussions in that case. Thank you. --Victor falk 16:16, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:XiuzhenTu KLK.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:XiuzhenTu KLK.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Xiuzhen_Tu-_HK_KamLanKoon_2003.pdf)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Xiuzhen_Tu-_HK_KamLanKoon_2003.pdf. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 07:52, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

March 2008[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Taoism, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. This is especially important when dealing with biographies of living people, but applies to all Wikipedia articles. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are already familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add your reference to the article. Thank you. Also, please stick closely to cited sources. Attaching further commentary or using the source to justify a point it does not make clearly it itself is inappropriate. Also, please realize that we present the information reported in reputable sources based on its appearance in the references. Wikipedia articles should not be used to present a particular point of view as most correct. Vassyana (talk) 08:24, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Vassyana. I have tried, most scholarly writings on Taoism, Tao is well, scholarly. On Tao and Taoism as I said I was trying to give it a view from Taoists' stance, sadly one that has yet to been elaborated by Western Scholars, indeed scholars. How might I go about including this view, or should it according to WP policy be silenced altogther? By the same token the intro on Taoism with the last edit by you V, was ok but half of it was on a Debate (suggesting no one knows what it is), a quarter of it on Tao being translated as way or path, attributable to Waley or two or three Scholars, simply does not do justice to say what Taoism is to your reader. I have grown to like some of the WP contents, but perhaps on this subject WP need to stretch its policy to consider what is out there, because no scholars have written on views that is anywhere near representational. RSVP ACHKC (talk) 01:55, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Take another example that I dearly wish to include in the article on Taoism, may be in the adherent section or just below- namely who is a Taoist? A couple of hundred words is all it needs which will give it a socio-political perspective, again no citable reference perhaps even with a tinge of OR, a subject no Taoists have aired, certainly not by a scholar listed in the same page, can it be done, trial in WP sandbox?? ACHKC (talk) 02:22, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is simply intended to summarize published information about topics. Claims must be verifiable in reputable sources and they must presented in proper proportion. The conclusions and claims of editors should not be used. It may be helpful if you find some references written by well-known teachers and followers of Taoism. There are a lot of books written from such a perspective, though we must be careful to avoid vanity press publications and similar materials. Regarding a sandbox, if you would like, I could make a copy of the Taoism article in your userspace for you to work on. I will also see what is available in my Questia access and personal book collection, to see if I have any appropriate sources for you. Let me know what assistance you would like that I can offer. If you have any further questions, please let me know. Cheers! Vassyana (talk) 05:42, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have also recently run across your latest contributions, and have started to modify them, as they seem to reflect one particular sect of Taoism. As you probably know, Taoism is a large subject with a long history, and here at Wikipedia we don't focus on one aspect of a subject to the exclusion of others. I have especially been changing or removing what seem to be opinions or conclusions in the articles. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, so we can report those of others, but we can't represent our own as forgone. Regards, --Bradeos Graphon Βραδέως Γράφων (talk) 14:56, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

April 2008[edit]

Although you've already been informed about WP verifiability and citation policies above and elsewhere, you continue to ignore them (for instance, adding "大橈氏" under Sexagenary cycle and Celestial stem). Chinese-language webpages and blogs may be acceptable references in the Chinese 維基百科 but the English Wikipedia relies upon published English-language references. Please cooperate. Thanks. Wikiproject Taoism[edit]

Hi. We have a community of editors at WP:WikiProject Taoism who are all committed to improving articles on Taoism. It would be great if you could join in with us. Please visit the project page and enter into discussion. That way you can be sure you are editing along with WP policies and avoid having your edits reverted and your articles up for deletion. There are also WikiProjects on China, Vietnam etc. that you might like to join. Best wishes. Itsmejudith (talk) 19:27, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would be more than happy to help or contribute in my own way which hopefully is within the many WP rules.ACHKC (talk) 03:46, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tao page[edit]

ACHKC - I've been doing some editing over at Tao trying to simplify things, and I've been quandrying over the 'Philosophies Complementing Practices' and 'Manifestations of Tao' sections, which (I think) are largely your inspiration. I think they are very dense - to the point that I'm not sure what the original intention of either was - and I'd like to get some feedback from you before I do anything with them. can you explain a bit? --Ludwigs2 03:58, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Ludwigs, I recall I only corrected the title word from Characteristic to Manifestations, the former too scientific the latter a softer & more naturalistic title for the text to ensue, other than that I did not contribute much to that section. On Philosophies complementing practices it was meant to convey amongst other subjects, the Taoist philosophies do not contradict but instead complement the practice- they must be practised intandem to be specific! Anything that I know, shoot, I'd be glad to help anyway I can. ACHKC (talk) 06:50, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
ah, yeah... well, I'd gleaned that much from the text. I've just been wondering how to simplify and clarify it. hmmm... :-) --Ludwigs2 03:42, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The Intro simplification by others seemed to have taken out the core aspects of Tao which is still within the sections of 'Philosophies Complementing Practices'- for instance Tao is both immanent and transcendent (Kohn Daoism Hanbook p67 quoting Schwartz p370), hope your simplifying can retain this. Proposed deletion of Disha 72 ways[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Disha 72 ways, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Probable hoax, Tiantang youji 天堂遊記 is "spirit-writing" fiction and not a Daoist text, interwiki redlinks

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.
