Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, ATC Secretary. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Cahk (talk) 08:46, 20 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your username

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Arts Theatre Cronulla, and I noticed that your username, "ATC Secretary", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username, by completing this form, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 10:00, 20 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia with this username. This is because your username, ATC Secretary, does not meet our username policy.
Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below) and continue editing.
A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.
You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:
  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "Email this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you think that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this notice, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 10:02, 20 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I note that you're currently in the process of having your username changed, but it appears that the new username you're suggesting is also not in compliance with Wikipedia's username policy (it's basically the same thing). I urge you to review this policy and let me know if you have any questions - I want your experience here to be positive and frustration-free; reading and understanding relevant policies and guidelines when other editors advice you on them will help to make your tenure as a new user as smooth as possible :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 10:05, 20 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oshwah - after ping&pong via GlobalRenameRequest, user was renamed. — regards, Revi 10:39, 20 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
-revi - Great, I'll unblock the account. Thanks for the heads up ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 10:52, 20 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
