Tilefish

Glad to see you still have interest in the GA for the tilefish, I wasn't about to let it slip away so easily. (intended pun) I do want the article to be at GA status, so I hope you don't mind my assistance, it is also my first work on a GA type. I was doing some work on the Mazama pocket gopher. Any interest in that? ChrisGualtieri (talk) 15:20, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

Of course I'm glad you jumped into help, for a second I thought nobody wanted that article to even hit GA, It was a hunch so I gave it a shot at a review and I was doing much of it on my own, until you came in and possibly saved the article from potential GA failure (you have my respect for what you did there), I also did some expanding on the Breeding section. Yes I will definitely help you with the Mazama pocket gopher article! Prabash.Akmeemana 15:26, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
Okay. Let's get the tilefish to GA status together! I don't think it matters who noms anyways, a group of editors who put a lot of work into an article are both able to take credit for their efforts. With both of us researching and adding material the process is much faster and of a higher quality. Currently, it appears that our coverage of the tilefish is actually better than Briritannica.[1] And that's saying something as the species is the most commercially important. Though I am intrigued by this 1882 matter. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 15:44, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
I agree with you, if the Great northern tilefish gets to GA, I really don't care about who gets the most credit or whatnot even though I created it in the first place and the majority until you helped was all me, the DYK everything but credit is nothing it's the status of the article I care about. What matters the most is that we have an article that is good and respected, we as editors must put the highest effort on that article for it to reach that special status. Good work to all Prabash.Akmeemana 01:46, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
Just wondering, people can sharing credit on these things. I've seen GA noms when the editor is not even a major contributor yet still puts that little star in their userpage. If you are worried about WP:FOUR, the note is, "You are not required to be the person who nominated the article for GA status, but you must be one of the people significantly responsible for the article meeting the GA criteria." Meaning that I cannot get FOUR because I didn't create or do anything prior to DYK, but I am now a major editor of this page for the GA level. So if you want to continue on after this towards FA, it could end up as a co-nom if we both stick together with it and both of us can take credit for our work. And by the way, your work on it so far is awesome, it's lead me to better and more specific sources and you have in turned found even more sources and the page has about doubled in size since the GA began. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 01:59, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
I am very impressed with all your hard work expanding, your work is worthy of a GA topicon on your userpage! You saved the GA review and did some large expansion on the entire article itself, If the article becomes GA, I would put the Topicon on my page too, the DYK was created by me so it could get more attention from other editors to help me, little did so know that it was a mini award or recognition, bringing this article to FA would be awesome, having you to work together is even better! Really credit is small, but I'm really happy that an article I created with the help from great editors is about to reach a special status! Prabash.Akmeemana 02:10, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

Stepping back

Hi. Several users have agreed that there is little to be gained by constantly poking Retrolord and are stepping back from mentioning his immaturity. He is probably already more than well aware that his user pages convey a rather less serious profile of Wikipedia than we would prefer, and I'm sure that given time, he will come around of his own accord. There are plenty of other areas where you can channel your efforts and enthusiasms without needing to pile on in areas where admins already have things under control. Cheers, Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 01:21, 23 July 2013 (UTC)

One I'm not poking him or bullying him or baiting him, I gave him kind advise to remove some of the immature stuff on his talk page, am I banned from his talk-page?? If so tell me ASAP and I won't comment there again, "the admins have things under control" clarify on this one is there going to be a block or something? If so thats not a great way to handle an situation, it was a kind dear request for him and I don't think it will interfere with anything. Admin status does not mean superiority over a user, I think the situation can be handled without the use of administrators, rather more experienced users would be more of a respectable way to put it. (We are team of editors working to help wikipedia expand and build up) but I believe that my message to Retrolord was helpful, calm and more sincere that all the other rants given by other users, If I did something I think I helped the situation more than the previous arguments given by others, Retrolord has a potential in Wikipedia, I see it in him and his contributions, the use of administrators is fine, and I think the problem can be handled by normal editors with experience in dispute resolution as we can handle the situation aswell. --Prabash.Akmeemana 01:49, 23 July 2013 (UTC)
Hi Prabash. I wasn't suggesting for a moment that you were bullying him or baiting him. Quite to the contrary, I am sure you were commenting there in the very best of good intentions. I was just saying that some of us believe he has come under a lot of fire already, admittedly self-inflicted, but even messages in good faith have shown to have had slow, if little effect. No one is saying either that admins have any superiority, but they can, and will block users if they are disruptive. We want Retro to come around of his own accord and we are watching closely. He certainly has potential as you say, and we really want to help him, but constantly reminding him of his failures which he is already well aware of might simply risk fueling the fire.
